Planning a trip to Paris had been on my mind for a long time. Luckily, my mama (maternal uncle) lives in Paris, so we didn’t have to worry about accommodation. It’s always a bonus when you know someone in the city you’re visiting—it makes the experience even better.

Our travel group included me, my brother Akshit, my mother, and my nani (grandmother). Since we had a Schengen Visa, we had the option to explore other European countries as well. Switzerland was my mother’s pick, while Akshit and I were excited about visiting Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Of course, no trip to Paris is complete without seeing the iconic Eiffel Tower. It was the first place we visited right after landing in Paris. The Eiffel Tower is a true marvel of architecture and history. It’s also famously known as a romantic spot—perfect for proposals. Everywhere you look, there are tourists from all over the world, drawn to its grandeur.

Though no longer one of the official Seven Wonders, the Eiffel Tower remains a wonder in its own right. Visiting it during the day is incredible, but it’s an absolute must to return at night. The tower lights up beautifully, offering a magical experience you’ll never forget.

Our second morning of Wandering Through Paris began with a proper French breakfast—a delightful spread of fresh baguettes, buttery croissants, and black coffee. Energized and ready, we set out for a city tour.

Our first stop was the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, often referred to as the "Sacred Heart of Paris." This stunning church, over a century old, is a masterpiece of architecture that exudes timeless charm. Perched atop a hill, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city—but getting there involves climbing a fair number of stairs. The effort is well worth it, though, as the sight of Paris from above is simply unforgettable.

After visiting the basilica, we wandered through the nearby market area, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and indulging in a bit of shopping. The quaint streets, filled with shops and street performers, felt quintessentially Parisian.

However, amidst the beauty of the city, we experienced an unsettling incident. While my nani was walking along the footpath, two men on a bike zoomed past and attempted to snatch her necklace. Thankfully, they didn’t succeed, but the incident left us all shaken. It was a stark reminder that even in a city as glamorous as Paris, one must remain vigilant.

One of the most intriguing places in Paris is the Catacombs of Paris, a haunting yet fascinating site. This underground ossuary holds the remains of over six million people, arranged in a small section of an ancient tunnel network. Walking through the Catacombs, you can literally see the skulls and bones, meticulously arranged—a somber reminder of the city’s layered history. It’s an experience that’s both eerie and awe-inspiring, leaving you with a deep sense of reflection.

After resurfacing from the Catacombs, we headed straight to one of Paris’s most famous bakeries, Paul. Known for its delightful range of pastries, Paul is particularly celebrated for its macarons. These delicate, colorful confections were the perfect treat to round off such a unique and thought-provoking excursion.

Our visit to The Louvre didn’t go as planned. Unfortunately, it was closed for maintenance on the day we went, and we missed the chance to see the legendary Mona Lisa. As the world’s largest art museum, The Louvre is a treasure trove of art and history, and its closure was undoubtedly disappointing. However, we did get to admire the striking Pyramide du Louvre, a stunning structure made of glass and metal that serves as a modern contrast to the museum's classical architecture.

From there, we continued to another iconic landmark, the Arc de Triomphe. This monumental arch is one of Paris’s most recognizable symbols, standing tall as a tribute to French military victories. It also serves as a central hub where twelve grand avenues converge, creating a star-like pattern. Among these avenues, we strolled through the Avenue de Wagram, which boasts a mix of charming residential areas and lively marketplaces.

We saved the best for last—Disneyland Paris. It was my first time visiting Disneyland, and I couldn’t contain my excitement. This magical place truly lives up to its reputation, with so much to see and experience that one day simply doesn’t feel like enough.

One of the highlights of the day was the Disney Parade—an absolute must-see! The colorful floats, beloved characters, and enchanting music create a spectacle that brings out the child in everyone.

While many of the rides are designed for kids, there are a few thrilling options for adults that are both fun and a little scary. Beyond the rides, Disneyland is a haven for shopping, with countless stores selling Disney merchandise and gift items. The park also offers a variety of food outlets to keep you fueled throughout the day.

Disneyland Paris was the perfect way to conclude our trip. It’s a place where fun, nostalgia, and magic come together, leaving you with memories to cherish forever.
